"Tivio" is one in a Million! He has a pedigree out of this world. Close up blood of many of the great horses from the Foundation of AQHA.He is 25% Poco Bueno and 18.75% Jessie James!
He is approx 97% Foundation bred. He was originally registered with APHA as Breeding Stock, because the AQHA was not accepting Cremellos, and Perlinos at that time. His APHA name is Poco Jessie Tivio, #614083.AQHA now accepts these double dilute colors, and Tivio now has his AQHA papers under thename Mr Poco Jessie Tivio, #4332788. He is a Perlino, which is basically a Buckskin who carries an extra Dilute gene. This also means he will contribute a Dilute gene to Every foal and he will sire 100% Color. He also carries the Dun gene.
His DNA Genotype is:
Cream = CrCr (Homozygous for Cream)
Red Factor = EE (Homozygous for Black)
Augouti = AA (Homozygous for Agouti)
Dun Factor = Dd (Carries one Dun gene)
What does all this mean? Well, when bred to sorrel, chestnut, bay, brown, black, or dun mares... he will sire Buckskins or Buckskins with a Dun gene.
When bred to Grays... the foal will start out being Buckskin, but may gray out later.
When bred to mares with a Cream gene... he will have Buckskins or Perlinos.
He will produce Buckskins or Buckskin/Duns on almost ALL mares. The exception is Gray mares, and mares with a Cream gene. It is Impossible for him to sire Sorrel, Chestnut, Bay, Brown, Smokey Black,
Black, Palomino, or Red Dun foals.
